I was designing hand made postcards (Mush Room Graphics)and had my own cartoon in a local magazine (Gerarke de Vos) and I also had started to paint with acrylic on canvas. When I had a chance to rent the downstairs floor in the building where I lived, I started to install a graphical atelier for students and artists. I hoped to make a living out of renting the atelier. I had a professional 60 cm wide etching press, a self-made screen print installation (I had built it to print King Flashman's promo material in my dad's garage)and a darkroom for black and white photographs and light film development. At that moment I was still writing songs that I overvoiced on Studio One riddims from the record collection from our King Flashman Electro Sound System.I hoped to be discovered as a songwriter but I never found the connections because I didn't know how to network. I also kept on searching for a job but sometimes my masters degree was in my way, then I didn't have enough experience, and printing plants were using computers everywhere.
